They’re All About The Cats

Our most recent RVing adventure brought us to Lake Tionesta in western Pennsylvania. It’s becoming our practice to “leave the woods” to explore the surrounding towns, especially to try to find a local animal shelter. So we headed off towards the town of Clarion on the advice of the helpful folks at the information center. We weren’t quite sure just where “the animal shelter” was along Route 322, but saw the Clarion PAWS sign and made a quick right into the driveway.

We found three young ladies hard at work doing daily cleaning and feeding chores inside the re-purposed ranch style house that is home to more than fifty felines. They were very cordial and helpful, gave us a tour and allowed us to take lots of photos. This group recently split into two segments – Clarion PAWS for cats; Clarion Pups for dogs. There’s also another group, Tri-County Animal Center, that they sometimes work with during spay/neuter clinics. PAWS is well versed in TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) and feel they are finally making a dent in pet overpopulation in the surrounding area. Since our visit, I’ve explored Clarion PAWS’ website and “liked” their facebook page. I’d encourage you to do the same.

Enjoy the photos – pay special attention to the unique and very flexible room divider system in the photos of the rooms. What a superb idea! Thank you Clarion PAWS for welcoming us to your shelter.
