Our organization has spent most of December fundraising; now it's time to get working on a few priority projects, beginning in January 2020!
This month, we're seeking volunteers for these initiatives:
PROJECT: Pet Food Assistance
To help cat and dog caregivers by providing quality pet food (free of charge) for the animals that they feed. We are targeting our help to two distinct groups: feral cat colony caregivers and pet owners in situations where they are struggling to have enough food for both themselves and their pets.
Sourcing, contacting and coordinating with businesses, organizations and individuals who can donate cat and/or dog food, treats, cat litter, and other basic supplies. Sourcing, contacting and coordinating the distribution of donations to local caregivers. Contacts might include social service agencies, food pantries, rescue organizations, TNR groups or individuals.
PROJECT: Low Cost Spay Neuter Alternatives
To help cat and dog caregivers by compiling and sharing information about low cost veterinary service options, including spay/neuter for cats and dogs. We are targeting our help to two distinct groups: feral cat colony trappers/caregivers and pet owners in situations where they are struggling keep their pets with their family due to financial constraints.
Sourcing, contacting, classifying and coordinating with veterinarians and/or clinics that offer (or be willing to offer) discounted services for qualified families or special/discounted services for community cats. Also, developing a streamlined system for HL to work with these veterinarians when we choose to subsidize the cost of services. Helping to create a comprehensive database of these resources.
Initial research, compilation and program development, then periodic updates and additions.
PROJECT: Communication Sharing Network
To expand our reach to cat and dog caregivers who need our help.
Becoming a partner in consistently sharing our 'message of the week' to your circle of contacts via one or more communication methods. Examples include (but are not limited to) personal facebook feed, facebook groups, twitter, instagram, next door, local calendars, and email. Messages could include announcements about our initiatives, events, new resources or news.
Weekly and ongoing.
