The new year is starting out in a hopeful direction! Breed specific bans in 10 Utah cities were nullified by state legislation that became law on Jan 1st. New Jersey bill S1870, providing for more thorough disclosure of information by pet sellers, was passed unanimously and is waiting for approval by the governor. And, legislation with similar intent was approved by the NYC council and some provisions go into effect this month.
Our ♀Spay ♂Neuter Grant program continues to roll out into the new year, too. Some of the winners of our Photos With Santa contest have chosen the recipients of their grants; we’re hoping to hear from our remaining two winners, Casey and Henry, very soon . . .
- Penny & Grimm chose Sunrays Pit Bull Rescue
- Pepsi chose St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center
- Honey chose Happy Paws Rescue
Soon, we’ll be posting photos of the kitties that were spayed or neutered as a result of our last round of grants for NJ-based TNR (Trap Neuter Release) groups.
Our first batch of ♀Spay ♂Neuter Grants for 2015 will go to rescue groups (or shelters) who pull dogs from any NJ shelters that euthanize due to lack of space. We’ve already heard from some, but are looking for a few more. Please spread the word! Organizations that meet these criteria should email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to ask for an application. We want to hear from you!!!
