November is National Senior Pet / Adopt A Senior Pet Month. What better ambassador could there be to draw attention to senior pets? It’s our own 21 year old Tippi! (At least we think she’s 21 based on information that she was seven when we adopted her in July of 2000.)
Today’s focus is on the seniors available for adoption through several of the rescue groups that we’ve helped in the past. Please consider adopting a senior dog or cat – you can have many wonderful years together. Just look at Tippi – she’s still going strong and is agile and active.
- Penny Lane Dog Adoptions & Pet Sanctuary specializes in adults and seniors! Follow Penny Lane on facebook; view their dogs for adoption.
- Rescue Ridge frequently helps the “hard to place” dogs and cats. Follow Rescue Ridge on facebook; see their dogs (and cats!) for adoption, especially senior pups, Angel, Lousie, Zena, Onyx and Eensy Weensy!
- Second Chance Pet Adoption League is the “go-to” rescue for small and medium sized adult or senior dogs. Follow Second Chance on facebook; check out their available pups.
An easy way to find seniors or adults available for adoption – no matter where you are located – is the online database, PetFinder. Just enter your location, along with information about the type of animal you are seeking . . . in seconds you will see lots and lots of choices!
